University plans:

Hello Everyone,

I'm at that stage in my educational journey where university is looming and I have to begin seriously thinking about whether I want to get myself into thousands of pounds worth of debt or enter the workplace. My career prospects have varied, to say the least... when I was younger I wanted to be a beautician, then I wanted to be a vet so I took all sciency academic subjects at GCSE - later realising that I hated anything to do with science, developed a fear of needles and almost pass out at the sight of blood (so definitely not the career for me.) After that, for a while, I had my heart set on becoming a barrister which I still love the sound of however after going to a taster A-Level lesson in Law I found it incredibly dull. Inevitably leaving me with my backup career... journalism specialising in either politics or fashion - both of which were realistic considering my passion for the subject areas.

Now over 6 months into my A-Levels (which I have a whole post on) I still have two career ideas, primarily still journalism in either politics or fashion. The second career option was to become a teacher at a secondary level preferably in English or Business. I have recently received a job as a fashion journalist so arguably I could choose to pursue that and not go to university. However the job aside I still see many areas of progressions, therefore, I would choose to go to university just so that I can have my degree to reinforce my knowledge.

The course that I have had my eye on for a while now is called Beauty Promotion, it features all things fashion and beauty, therefore, leaving me with a variety of career paths. for example, the course will teach me about PR, Marketing and trend forecasting which are relevant to entering the journalism industry. In terms of long-term aspirations, I would love to write for a high profile magazine such as Vogue and be able to report on high profile fashion weeks and interview major fashion icons.

I thought that this post might be helpful because the majority of my readers are approaching university like me. If you know what you want to do post 18 then be sure to let me know! 😊
